Description
The original absoluteBLACK Premium Direct Mount 1X Oval chain links have been specially developed for the Sram T-Type drivetrain. Suitable for cranks with 8-bolt mounting. Chain link teeth have been specially redesigned to work in all conditions with narrower chains that inherently have less room for mud. It is the premium oval chainring on the market with scientifically proven performance gains.
Offset is 3 mm

Why absoluteBLACK developed new tooth profiles for the T-Type chain
The T-Type chain differs from conventional chains such as Shimano 11-speed or KMC 11/12-speed not only because of its distinctive flat side. The differences can also be found on the inside of the chain. The most important of these differences are the smaller distances between the inner and outer plates and the larger diameter of the individual chain rollers. The following explains why these features require special chainring tooth profiles. The smaller distance between the plates results in less space for the chainring tooth inside the chain.
The chainring tooth profiles developed for more conventional chains are thicker because the distance between the inner plates of these chains is greater. If a narrower T-type chain is used on these more 'conventional' chainrings, the space between the tooth and the inner plate is not large enough for debris (mud, sand, etc.), which leads to meshing problems and chain dropping. Therefore, the teeth of the chainring for the T-type chain must be thinner to ensure reliable and consistent performance. Although the distance between the pins of the T-Type chain and the conventional chains is the same, the larger diameter of the individual rollers leaves less space between the rollers in the T-Type chain. When the T-Type chain is used on chainring teeth designed for more conventional 11 or 12-speed chains, the larger rollers do not fall fully into the recesses between the teeth, causing the chain to run higher on the individual teeth, increasing the risk of derailment and wear. For this reason, the chainring teeth for the T-Type chain must also have larger recesses between the teeth.
Our T-Type-specific tooth profiles are symmetrical and feature new, patent-pending mud-cleaning functionality. Each wide tooth has a horizontal channel about halfway up to allow better cleaning of debris, which is particularly important with the new, narrower chains. From our experience and customer feedback, we know that the area where the rear of the crank arm is closest to the chainring is particularly susceptible to mud and dirt build-up. We have modified one of the wide teeth in this area to improve the evacuation of mud and debris.
Advantages of the Direct Mount narrow/wide chainring:
Finest design to offer an excellent weight to strength ratio
Unique special oval shape (patent pending)
Significantly improves traction and climbing capabilitiesSpecial 3D tooth machining for ultimate mud relief drastically reduces wear and noise
Outstanding quality and great looks, you won't 'feel' the oval shape at all once you get used to it
Reduces stress on the knees
Best possible oval/elliptical shape to get the most out of it.
MOUNTING THE OVAL CHAINRING ON THE 8-SPEED CRANK
Remove the crank from the bike.
Unscrew all 8 Torx t-20 bolts from the crank and remove the old chainring. Clean the crank mounting ropes with a cloth and apply a small amount of grease. Position the chainring in place - note that there is only one way to fit this chainring to the Sram crank as the mounting hole pattern is not completely symmetrical. Tighten all original 8 bolts to approximately 4Nm using the T-20 Torx wrench.
Oval (elliptical) chainring does not affect the work of the clutch mechanism in the rear derailleur. Pedaling uphill becomes more comfortable.
