With its wavy, 45 mm high rim shape, the 353 NSW offers speed in any terrain with first-class aerodynamic efficiency and crosswind stability. The 353 NSW is Zipp's lightest tubeless wheelset to date. The use of hookless (straight) rims in the 353 NSW is an integral part of "Making You Faster". With hookless, the transition between tire and rim is more seamless and aerodynamic. Zipp's hookless rims have a more efficient resin distribution, which means lighter and stronger wheels. The Sawtooth rim shape of the Zipp 353 NSW with hyperfoils optimizes aerodynamic efficiency and crosswind stability. The Sawtooth design also allows the rim to be structurally strong but lightweight. This helps you accelerate out of corners and maintain that speed regardless of the terrain, especially on short, crisp climbs. The Zipp 353 NSW uses the TSE (Total System Efficiency) approach to wheel design and overcoming specific speed barriers: Wind resistance, gravity, rolling resistance and vibration losses. The inner width of the rims of 25 mm is perfect for running wider, tubeless tires with reduced air pressure. At the center of the 353 NSW is the Cognition V2 hub set, which has been redesigned with an updated Axial Clutch V2 mechanism for faster engagement, reduced friction and improved durability.
Total System Efficiency (TSE)
The 353 NSW wheels were developed under the TSE approach. The development goal was to find the best possible wheel design to overcome the speed barriers that exist under realistic riding conditions. In addition to wind resistance, gravity and rolling resistance, these also include vibration losses in poor road conditions.
Zipp Cognition hubs
The Cognition V2 hub set developed in Germany impresses with its unique freewheel system. The system is similar to a toothed disk freewheel, but thanks to the special arrangement of the toothed disks (axial clutch), it generates only half as much frictional resistance when rolling as a conventional ratchet system. The second version of the hubs has an improved sealing system and the freewheel mechanism responds even faster.
Sawtooth design
Introduced with the Zipp 858 NSW, the 353 also received the aerodynamically extremely efficient sawtooth profile, which was modeled on the fin ends of the humpback whale and allows the rim height to vary between 43 and 48 millimeters. In combination with the newly designed hexagonal ABLC dimples (indentations on the outer sides of the rim), the design ensures very high crosswind stability, especially at larger angles of attack.
ImPress graphics
Zipp lettering is printed directly onto the rim using ImPress graphics technology. This allows the recessed structures on the rims to develop their full effect.
Zipp Lifetime Warranty
Zipp grants you a lifetime warranty on your Zipp wheel when used properly. The warranty also covers racing use and damage caused by riding errors as long as the wheel has been used for its intended purpose. The warranty is only valid for the original purchaser and proof of purchase is mandatory!
