Designed for riding on rough trails, gravel and mud, to get you wherever you want to go in comfort and stress-free, with the unique feeling of performance. The first component group developed by Shimano for gravel riding. Instead of telling gravel riders what they need, Shimano's engineers asked them what they want. Shimano listened for two years and spent countless hours talking to gravel enthusiasts from all over the world. They rode on dust and gravel roads and narrow tracks, crossed streams and mountain passes to get an idea of what a Shimano gravel groupset could look like. The result of all these rides and new friendships? First the Gravel Alliance from Shimano and now the Shimano GRX - the world's first series with components specially developed for gravel.

The aim is not to dominate the gravel scene or change its direction. Shimano didn't want to reinvent the wheel. The engineers at Shimano love gravel the way it is. Shimano simply wanted to give you and your friends the opportunity to ride the way you want with a new component group. And the GRX does just that.

Last but not least, the designers envisioned a Shimano GRX groupset that would deliver top gravel racing performance while offering options that would make it affordable for cost-conscious riders. By setting these design goals, Shimano have developed components that are also suitable for cyclocross, bike adventure and almost any similar type of cycling discipline. Simply put, the Shimano GRX is the world's best way to move freely and explore new territory on a gravel bike.

DUAL CONTROL LEVER
DCL stands for DUAL CONTROL LEVER (DUAL CONTROL LEVER). It has braking and shifting functions and is easy to operate. The improved ergonomics are probably even more important for the high standard than additional gear ratios. The technology of the new shifters brings the stability of MTB technology and works so precisely and smoothly that it is possible to shift gears at the front and rear with just one finger. This really is a highlight of SHIMANO TOTAL INTEGRATION. To understand this, you simply have to experience it for yourself.
The dual-control shift/brake levers of DURA-ACE, ULTEGRA and 105 have been optimized and now feature, for example, a weight-reduced joint on the inside of the shift mechanism and integration of the shift cable for easier steering. The extremely compact and high-precision manufactured individual parts work together to achieve an unrivaled shifting speed.

REACH ADJUST
The brake lever is equipped with reach adjustment. This allows the grip to adapt to the size of the rider's hand, riding style or personal preferences.

ONE WAY BLEEDING
"ONE WAY BLEEDING" was developed to quickly and easily prevent air from entering the hydraulic system. Shimano have optimized the path of the brake fluid throughout the system to prevent air bubbles from becoming trapped in the system. The one-way flow of the mineral oil, together with the funnel for filling, enables clean, problem-free bleeding.

ICE TECHNOLOGIES
Brake fading during prolonged, uninterrupted operation, for example when riding downhill, impairs braking performance. SHIMANO has introduced brake rotors and brake pads with ICE TECHNOLOGIES to create a cooling technology for consistently high braking performance. The brake rotor has a three-layer sandwich structure of stainless steel on the outside around an aluminum core. It radiates heat better and reduces a surface temperature of 400˚C to 300˚C, for example. There is also a cooling fin on the brake pad. The design of the disc in conjunction with the cooling fins results in a longer service life of the pad, less braking noise, less fading and a lower weight.
