With the Grand Prix 5000 AllSeason Tubeless Reay (5000 AS TR), Continental is launching a new endurance runner. The strongest version of the 5000 series creates confidence and protection in all weather conditions thanks to special adaptations.
Just like the high-end racing tire 5000 S TR, the 5000 AllSeason TR is also manufactured with a tread with only 2 instead of 3 fabric layers. This ensures better adaptation to the surface and reduces rolling resistance. Thanks to the Vectran Breaker puncture protection layer and the grippy Black Chili tread, the reduced number of layers does not have a negative effect on puncture protection. The Black Chili compound has been specially adapted for the All-Season for better wet grip and higher mileage. The sidewalls consist of 3 plies and have an increased sidewall protection layer compared to the 5000 S TR. The black version of the AS TR has reflective strips on the sidewalls to make you even more visible in the darker months of the year.
In line with the state of the art, the 5000 AS TR is also compatible with hookless rims. However, it can still be ridden with classic clincher rims and also with a tube.

Vectran Breaker
Vectran ™ is a synthetically produced high-tech fiber with a natural model. Like spider silk, Vectran ™ is a liquid crystalline polymer (LCP). Vectran ™ is spun from the molten liquid polymer Vectra and further processed into a multi-fiber yarn. Both spider silk and Vectran ™ have enormous tensile strength at very low weight. Higher puncture resistance and lower weight are the advantages of the Vectran breaker. Vectran is more cut-resistant than aramid, 5 times more tensile than steel and lighter than a nylon thread, without affecting rolling resistance. This makes it the ideal protective layer for tires. Vectran was developed for airbag systems in the automotive and aerospace industries.
