Precision manufactured by laser milling from steel, this gauge shows the exact chain wear in areas where chain manufacturers generally recommend replacing the chain (0.5% and 0.75%). The 3-point shape of the gauge separates rivet wear from roller wear, providing accurate results. The QR code leads to the instruction video. The gauge is suitable for all 6- to 13-speed chains including flattop chains from SRAM. In general, 11- to 13-speed chains should be replaced before 0.5% elongation is reached, while 6- to 10-speed chains should be replaced before 0.75% elongation is reached.
Continuous monitoring of chain wear is important, as worn chains are harder to shift and all other components in the drivetrain also wear more heavily.
