The Shimano CN-HG54 is a 10-speed chain specially designed for MTB and trekking drivetrains, but is also compatible with the Tiagra 4700 groupset. It has a directional binding, which increases the fluidity and performance of the shifting process (HG-X technology). On a performance scale of 1 to 3, the CN-HG54 ranks in the midfield.

HG-X
The directional 10-speed HG-X chain especially for mountain bikes is the next evolutionary step in shifting technology. This chain shifts more smoothly, saves weight and increases overall system performance. The outer side is optimized for front shifting thanks to a design adapted to the tooth shape of the chainring. The inside of the HG-X is optimized for rear shifting and ensures higher shifting performance. The sides are marked to ensure correct installation.
Warning: The high shifting performance is only achieved when the chain is fitted correctly. If the chain is fitted the wrong way round, it can jump off and cause serious injury.
Dyna-Sys
The asymmetrical chain, specially designed for mountain bikes, ensures smoother shifting, lower weight and optimized performance of the overall system. The CloseStep gradation reduces the jumps between gear steps, allows the chain to run more efficiently and reduces the risk of the chain jumping off when shifting in rough terrain.
