The Big Apple is Schwalbe's extra-wide special tire, designed for comfortable balloon bike riding. The air cushion of the Big Apple serves as natural suspension, absorbing all shocks almost as well as a full-suspension bike and rolling very easily at 2 bar. The bike therefore requires no complex technology and is low-maintenance, which serves the concept of an extremely intelligent and economical tire.

Air suspension built right in. The trend towards balloon bikes began ten years ago with the Big Apple: comfortable cycling without any complex technology! The air cushion of the tires is used as natural suspension. At approx. 2 bar, a balloon bike rolls wonderfully easily and with full suspension. A normal tire with a width of 37 mm has to be pumped up to 4 bar in order to roll similarly well.
