This is a completely new rear derailleur that has been specially developed for operation with a motor and not a cable. The AXS™ controlled components also allow individual adjustment to the rider's needs and requirements using the AXS™ app. It has a 10 mm shorter cage, sits further forward and further inwards than the mechanical Eagle™ and therefore offers more ground clearance as well as better cassette wrap. The Eagle AXS™ rear derailleur is smart enough to protect itself from damage thanks to the incredibly resistant Overload Clutch. In the event of an impact against the AXS™ rear derailleur, the motor gearbox decouples and allows the rear derailleur to move out of the way. It then immediately returns to its original position, ensuring an uninterrupted and uncluttered riding experience. The system meets the IP69K standard for water and dust resistance so that neither stream crossings and mud packs nor washing with a pressure washer can harm it.
