ROYAL BLOOD is the original mineral oil for all Magura disc brakes. (D)
For optimum function and operational safety, the brake must be filled with the brake fluid recommended by the manufacturer. Brakes filled with mineral oil do not tolerate brake fluid. The seals swell and become leaky.
Why does MAGURA Royal Blood use mineral oil and not DOT brake fluid?
Unlike DOT, mineral oil does not age and therefore offers consistent performance over the years. In addition, DOT absorbs water over time and thus loses its heat resistance or the originally very high boiling point drops to a low wet boiling point. This has a noticeable effect on brake performance. DOT is also toxic and corrosive. Small drops are enough to attack the bike's paintwork or damage the skin. Mineral oil is much easier to handle and also offers consistent performance over many years.
